ARTSY Studio Policies
1) Each class is offered in a six-week session, one lesson per week. You are committed to remain in your chosen time-slot for the entire six-week session, for example, if you are signed up for Tuesday at 3:30pm, you are committed to attending on Tuesdays throughout the session.
2) Parents are encouraged to drop-off, pick-up their child for class, in order for smooth running of classes. In the vicinity are the library, coffee shops, parks, and restaurants perfect for Moms and Dads to get some 'me' time.
3) Make-up classes or refunds for missed classes are not offered.
5) Food and candy are not allowed in the studio, however students may have drinks with lids. (Parents are encouraged to give their child a snack before class begins). Also, NO GUM please.
6) Students should bring a smock, apron, or old shirt to class every lesson to protect their clothes. The best idea is to bring an entire change of clothes meant only for art class. Accidents do happen, so be prepared. Should acrylic paint get on your/your child's clothes soak the garment in warm soapy water. After the paint is softened scratch it away with a fingernail or a butter knife. If most the paint is away, launder as usual, but check to be sure the paint is out before drying.
7) Students are not to come into the studio area until their class begins. Time for setting up and cleaning up is included in the class time. We spend 15 minutes setting up, an hour painting, and 15 minutes cleaning up.
8) Pets are not allowed in the gallery or studio, even if they are in carriers or in someone's arms.
9) If a parent is more than 15 minutes late picking up their child from class, a late fee of $5 per child per 10 minutes late is charged. Students should not be dropped off any earlier than 10 minutes ahead of time.
11) Shoes must be worn at all times.
12) Oohing and Aahing is HIGHLY ENCOURAGED! You may be surprised how far a little praise goes!
The children’s and young adults’ lessons cover drawing and painting techniques with an emphasis on acrylic painting.
Anyone can be ARTSY!
Come see for yourself!

Did you know???
That students who take art classes learn much more than just drawing and painting?
Art teaches us:
...How to set a goal and work toward that goal until
completion
...How to work in a structured, organized fashion
...How to look closely at the world around us
...How to pace ourselves, working slowly but steadily
...To embrace that we are individuals who create
individual works of art
Additional benefits for middle/high school students:
-Regardless of your chosen major/career path, art training is a wonderful addition to a college application or resume. Colleges and Universities are very interested in your hobbies and how you spend your free time.
-If you attend a Liberal Arts University, you will be required to take Arts Appreciation Courses, where a background in art gives you an added boost.
-A background in Art can aid you in any career that may require you to make presentations (sales, marketing, advertising, etc.) If a good presentation is accompanied by weak or ineffective visual aids it will be considered poor, likewise a good visual aids can support a weak presentation.
-Art is a proven stress reliever and eases the effects of depression.
"I love Artsy because of the teacher. She is the best. It is so much fun to be with my friends."
- Maddie, 6th grade
"Before taking lessons, my drawing abilities were stick figures, tulips, and boxes. Since taking lessons at Artsy I have learned to draw butterflies, birds and more. I learn something new at every class. If I can learn anyone can."
-Terry, Adult class
"Artsy is a fun place where I can make art and friends. I love making art at Artsy cuz Ms. Jessie helps me learn about art. I love Artsy!"
-Anonymous, 6th grade
"As a Canadian spending winter in Brunswick, one of the most enjoyable things I've done is join the Adult Free-Style Lessons at Artsy Studio & Gallery. Under Jessie's gentle guidance I've learned a huge amount in a short time. I look forward to joining her classes again next winter."
